Introduction.

The number of freight transport vans in cities is vastly growing, which creates a growing problem of everyday deliveries in the city. This problem is all mainly created by the fact, that companies want to approach a more flexible way to deliver their goods. Web shops also offer “same day delivery” or “order today, delivery tomorrow morning”.

Concept.

My idea was to create a solid product, that focuses more on the user and the driver where the driver can work without adding too much input into the application, otherwise the driver is too distracted with, what he’s doing (driving for example). I also want to implement the interaction between de user and the driver.

Adding & tracking parcel.

The style of the product is having a fast interface for all the user groups, that are involved in this product. One of the main requirements of the design was, that it needs to work simple and fluid while using.

Especially for the LEFV driver, where he needs to go for example. This is one of the user goals. The product has a clean and minimal use of colors. I’ve used the colors white, blue and red with minor tints of those colors. I choose for these colors, because they combine very well and it gives no stressful view. The color blue gives a trustful feeling.

App for the courier.

This interface shows the important information, that the driver needs from the system for the deliveries to be on time at their supposed addresses. It gives also the route where he needs to go.

The product is a custom device, that is fitted into the vehicle he drives that day. The driver can see the jobs, can accept and see more detailed information about the job. The system is build when the driver choose his vehicle he drives for the day the system will filter out the jobs.

Google Glass for the courier.

This interface is a supporting device for the driver. The main function of the Glass is the navigation. This covers problems for the driver so that he doesn’t have to look down every time on his device when driving. The Glass can send messages to the user.

Findings.

This project was for me one of my best project so far I've made. Within this project I really could focus on the painpoints a user have while waiting on their parcel.
